Self-adhesive flashing tape
Description
The tape is a self-adhesive, rubber modified, bituminous sealing tape for the
sealing of cracks and joints in many common domestic and commercial situations.
It consists of an aluminum foil reinforced by a polyester film and coated with a cold adhesive bituminous compound.
Uses
The TAPE is used to seal cracks and joints on:
- Roofs - around chimneys and skylights.
- over joints/cracks in tiles and roof cladding.
- Exterior walls - joints and cracks in asbestos cement sheeting.
- cracks under masonry ties and anchorages.
- around wall penetrations (such as water pipes).
- gutters and downpipes.
- Terraces - at joints between terraces and exterior walls.
- joints in parapets.
- roof edges, sides, flashings and joints.
- Inside the house - leaking pipes, showers, etc.
Advantages ·

Application Details
Substrate Quality The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and free from all surface contaminants.
Substrate Preparation · All loose particles, release agents, laitance, paint, rust and other poorly adhering materials must be removed by suitable hand or mechanical preparation
techniques.
Metallic substrates, plastics, etc. have to be thoroughly cleaned with a solvent
On porous substrates (concrete, renderings, etc.) the adhesion can be improved
with a bituminous primer (e.g. HY Primer). Do not apply HYA-TAPE until the HY Primer has dried.
Application Conditions / Limitations
Substrate Temperature +5°C min. / +40°C max. At temperatures below +10°C the tape and the substrate must be warmed up before and during the application. Use hot air equipment.
Application Instructions
Application Method / Cut the tape to the necessary length, remove the release film and press the tape
Tools firmly onto the substrate with a suitable pressure roller. Where lengths of HYA-TAPE
must be joined, ensure the joints are overlapped by a minimum of 50mm.
Note: Adhesion to the substrate can be increased by heating up the tape with a hotair-dryer during the application.
